Considerations when Selecting a Home/Business Security System
The best security system for you may not be the same system that’s best for your neighbor. Here are some areas to discuss with us as your system is being designed:
Is your primary concern the security of people when they are at home, or property protection when your home is unoccupied?
Do you have pets? If so, you may want to consider the installation of "pet immune" sensors.
Does anyone in the home have a serious medical condition? If so, ask about our wireless Medic-Alert pendants.
What are the most vulnerable points of entry into your home? How can they best be protected?
Decide if it is worth the extra cost to protect all the possible entry points or if it is enough to just protect the major ones.
Ask about interior protection devices that will provide a "failsafe" in the event an intruder gains entry into your home.
When your alarm goes off, the location is called and then a list of Responsible Parties is notified. Inquire about audio/video verification, as well as paging and faxing.
Definitely ask about fire detection. A security system can easily and very affordably include a fire detection system, and this is one of the best investments you can make in your family’s safety.
What if the phone lines are cut? Do you want backup systems (e.g., radio or cellular)?
In addition to protection from burglary, fire and medical emergencies, ask about protection from flooding, natural gas, carbon monoxide, and temperature extremes.
Business Considerations
Are you concerned about building access? What steps can be taken (e.g., CCTV, access control systems, badge systems, "panic" buttons at reception area) to maintain a secure environment?
What are the recommended procedures for keeping employees who are no longer with the company from gaining access to the security system or building?
Would you like Access Reports detailing who is accessing the building and when?
Do employees work alone after regular business hours? What steps can be taken to keep them safe?
